My Hero, first and foremost is my cousin Norman. At the age of 22 he had become more of a man then most men ever dream of becoming. He fought for his country, and died doing so. It wasn't something he was pressured into doing, it was something he had wanted to do---it was just the kind of man he was, he took pride in his country and was happy to be given the chance to protect us. He was the kind of kid/man that every parent hopes their child grows up to be. He was helpful, loving, caring, hard working, a tell it like it is kind of person. He did not speak----just to hear the sound of his voice--if he was saying something, it was something you needed to hear. He did not care what others thought of him, he was secure with the choices he had made, lived up to them and surpassed any hopes and dreams others had for him. Words cannot describe what the world loss on the 15th day of March 2009. Norman, I will regret not being able to have spent more time with you while you were alive, you have showed me so much about life, by living the life that you did, and doing so with honor and courage. You truly are an inspiration, a role model for young and old alike. You will never be forgotten, your legacy will live on within your son. A son who is lucky enough to have had you as a father. You Norman, are my hero, and I will hold you in the highest regard until the day that I die..We love you and miss you more than we could ever put into words. Love, Kelly & Leta Standerford, Schuyler and Baylor Nicholson
