How does one even begin to calculate the true meaning of the loss of such a good man? Some will talk about the Silver Star that Matt received. That is noteworthy, but Matt was a hero before he ever stepped foot in Afghanistan. In one of my letters to him, I told Matt that he and his brothers in the 173rd Airborne Brigade were America's real national treasure. I stand by those words.
